Dear La Crosse Area GLBT Community Events Visitor,

It is with great sadness that I regretfully inform you that the La Crosse Area GLBT Community Events website has been deactivated until further notice.  This decision was made due to the fact that the site was unable to live up to its mission – providing the La Crosse and surrounding area GLBTQ community with a one-stop location to find out GLBTQ themed/related events in the area.

While the website did prove to be popular among visitors looking for event information (as portrayed by the significant website hits during the time it was active), the La Crosse area GLBT community event planners seemed unwilling or unable to help support the cause by posting their events to the site.  It saddens me that during a time of recent GLBT-rights movements (Wisconsin Domestic Partnership, Iowa’s Same-Sex Marriage, etc.) that the La Crosse area community was unable to pull together and provide the community with a website such as this, which had such significant potential for future expansions and additional features.

I would have preferred to keep the site active, to provide a medium for the few event planners who did take the time to support the site and its purpose, but continuing to advertise, host, update, etc. is not a smart business decision when the La Crosse area GLBT community is not ready to support a site such as this at this point in time.

My promise to the community, however, is that I will continue to keep the www.laxglbt.com name (for as long as financially possible) in hopes that future interest from GLBT event planners could allow for the site to re-activate in the future.  When that time comes, and I hope it will be sooner rather than later, I will make myself available to help provide a medium that will help to unify the La Crosse area GLBTQ community and help to make sure everyone is aware of everything we (as a community) have to offer.
